Classification of X-Ray Flare-driven Chemical Variability in Protoplanetary Disks

چکیده

Young stars are highly variable in the X-ray regime. In particular, bright flares can substantially enhance ionization surrounding protoplanetary disk. Since disk chemical evolution is impacted by ionization, have potential to fundamentally alter chemistry of planet forming regions. We present 2D models that incorporate a stochastic flaring module, named \xgen, and examine flares' overall impact compared assume constant flux. 500 years events find global changes on both short time scales (days) response discrete long time-scales (centuries) cumulative many flares. Individual most strongly affect small gas-phase cations, where single flare temporarily abundance species such as H$_3^+$, HCO$^+$, CH$_3^+$, C$^+$. also drive out "steady state" over longer periods, disk-integrated some species, O O$_2$, few percent year model. explore whether specific history (randomly drawn but from same energy distribution) impacts it does not. Finally, we electron fraction. While molecules modeled not sensitive flares, certain including observable molecules, very reactive dynamic environment young star.

X-ray Desorption of Molecules from Grains in Protoplanetary Disks

We examine the ability of stellar X-rays to desorb molecules from grains in outer protoplanetary disks. In particular, we consider the possibility of spot heating by X-rays and examine its effectiveness, compared to whole grain heating by X-rays, in sustaining a gas phase abundance of CO. As found in previous studies, whole grain heating is effective only for small grains (< 500Å). As a result,...

The Chemical Evolution of Protoplanetary Disks

In this review we re-evaluate our observational and theoretical understanding of the chemical evolution of protoplanetary disks. We discuss how improved observational capabilities have enabled the detection of numerous molecules exposing an active disk chemistry that appears to be in disequilibrium. We outline the primary facets of static and dynamical theoretical chemical models. Such models h...

The structure and radiation spectra of illuminated accretion disks in AGN . II . Flare / spot model of X - ray variability

We discuss a model of X-ray variability of active galactic nuclei (AGN). We consider multiple spots which originate on the surface of an accretion disk following intense irradiation by coronal flares. The spots move with the disk around the central black hole and eventually decay while new spots continuously emerge. We construct time sequences of the spectra of the spotted disk and compute the ...

Chemical reactions in protoplanetary accretion disks II. Carbon dust oxidation

This paper considers the gas phase chemistry in a protoplanetary accretion disk, especially the chemistry initiated in the gas phase by destruction of dust close to the central star. Slow radial particle transport moves gas and dust from the cold outer parts of a protoplanetary accretion disk into its warm central part where chemical reactions in the gas phase are activated. At the same time ga...
